Addressing Misinformation and Clarifying the Facts

The leadership of our association must address the misinformation and falsehoods being circulated through non-factual and misleading emails. The facts concerning the removal of churches have been distorted and misrepresented.

First, the Missouri Baptist Convention (MBC) does not govern our association, just as our association does not govern the individual churches within it. The MBC has its own Constitution and By-Laws, and we have ours. Each body functions independently.

Second, the decision to remove churches was not made lightly. After much prayer and deliberation, and in response to the Credentials Committee overlooking our By-Laws, we were compelled to act. This decision was both valid and binding, grounded in the very By-Laws every member church agreed to uphold upon joining the association.

To clear up any misunderstanding, only the messengers from the following churches will be seated:  Berean, Bethlehem, Briarwood, Cedar Bluff, Center Point, Crocker 1st, Fairview, Gasconade, Hickory Hills, Hopewell, Idumea, Mt Gibson, Pisgah, St Robert 1st, Victory Hill, and Waynesville 1st.

Third (and most importantly), there remains a clear and simple path to restoration for any church wishing to honor its original commitment. According to our By-Laws:

“Such churches may be reinstated by vote of the Annual Session when sufficient reasons are given.”

The restoration process requires only a written statement explaining the previous failure to comply with the By-Laws and a renewed commitment to fully support the association. Full support includes both meaningful financial contributions and participation—such as sending youth to the association’s sanctioned summer camps.

Any church that submits this request to the D.O.M. will be presented for a vote at the end of the October Annual Meeting. Upon receiving a two-thirds (2/3) majority, that church will be reinstated at the close of the meeting.

As the D.O.M. wrote in his September article:

“Now is the time for healing. Let us all, as churches of this association, come back together again. Let us turn our eyes from ourselves to the lost souls around us. Let us recommit to the Great Commission and work again as one body to reach Pulaski County and the surrounding area for Christ. God bless us as we move forward in unity and truth, striving together to serve Him!”

Let us move forward in unity, guided by truth, and committed to the mission we share.

    Respectfully Submitted,

    P.B.A. Board of Directors
